The shape of this teapot is very cute.  It has a square design with rounded corners and extended feet.  It has the look of some kind of primitive animal sculpture.  Its triangular lid pull adds to the interesting profile.

Zheng makes it in two different colors (click on teapot picture to see hyperlink page)
: a purple one done in qing shui clay and a blackish one, in gao hei clay (black and purple clays mixed together).

pillar of words teapot by Zheng Qiu Biao 7. Pillar of Words: original teapot design with Chinese calligraphy by Zheng Qiu Biao, Yixing

This pillar of words is etched with Chinese characters from Buddhist sutras.  Although some teapot artists have calligraphy carved into their teapots by calligraphers, rather than attempting it themselves, Zheng Qiu Biao is also know for his traditional Chinese water color and calligraphy paintings, too.  Thus, he performs all of this intricate writing himself.  This is a stout teapot with less standard lines.
