Lotus Seed Pod teapot by Sun Jin Li 85. Lotus Seed Pod, original zisha teapot art by Sun Jin Li, Yixing, china

Lotus plants (Chinese water lilies) have a large underwater root ball, flowers, vines, and pads, above the water, plus a seed pod, like this one, with seeds in it (see hyperlink page to see the bottom of the teapot and a picture of real seed pods), left after the flower's petals fall off.  The spout is made to resemble lotus root, and the handle is a vine.  Lotus is a theme in Chinese teapot art: we have a full lotus with root and leaves by Lu Wen Xia and several lotus themes by Jiang Mei Zhen, but this is the first one that we have seen with a realistic seed pod.

Horney beast sculpted zisha teapot 27. Horny Beast zisha teapot by Sun Jin Li studio

This horn skinned beast is purely from the fantasy world of Zhao Chun Yi of Sun Jin Li Studio.  It looks a little bit like some kind of prehistoric reptile with its horned skin and weighty body, but the face is more like that of a Grinch.  So, if you are fond of  dinosaurs, horny beasts, or other monsterish things, you'll love having this little beast in your collection.  It's frightfully good for serving tea, too.

These beasts from Sun Jin Li studio have become so popular that we are already seeing copies of them in the teapot markets.  In fact, several times we have seen copies that were priced higher than we have priced the originals.
